The ISLES Spatial Plan forms a key part of ‘Towards Implementation’. It will provide guidance to the offshore energy sector on the development of an interconnected offshore electricity grid network in the waters between Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and wider UK. The Plan includes location guidance on the most suitable areas for development of offshore grid infrastructure and is accompanied by a Sustainability Appraisal discussing the potential socio-economic and environment effects.
The draft plan was out to consultation from 2nd of February until the 13th April 2015 and the responses have now been published on the Scottish Government website at http://www.gov.scot/Publications/2015/07/1191 .
These responses have been taken into account in the final documents which will be published soon – watch this space!
